Here to add some material.

Chapter 5 Period 1 (or any period)

English Name List is a list of the 15 most common American boys and girls names. I gave one name to each student.

The "Whose Calling Gap Fill" is a dialogue between 2 students

(A) “Ring” “Ring”
(A) “Hello, can I speak to   (Korean name)   .”
(B) “This is     (Korean name)      speaking.”
(B) Who’s calling please?
(A) This is    (English name)     speaking.”
(B) “How do you spell that?”

They should have this dialogue with as many students as possible.
Then they write down their partners Korean Name beside the numbers and English name on the chart as well.

Another mingling activity.

This material I used for Period 2 but can also be used for any Period really.

Each student was assigned a number from 1-24, these numbers correspond with the phrases they have to say in "I want to number"

Then each student was given a worksheet and told to write what they want to do at the top. After that they had a dialogue again

(A) “What do you want to do,    (name)  .?”
(B) “I want to _____________.”
(B) “How about you?”
(A) “I want to _____________.”
(A) “Okay!!”

On the back of their page the record their partners name and what they want to do

Here are links to similar lessons in the other Grade 5 textbooks.

Hello? Is Minu There?

This is Taeho Speaking.

May I Speak to Seho?

This is Amy Speaking.

May I Speak to Yuna?

May I Speak to Kevin?

Is Peter There?

I changed the target language using Powerpoints I found elsewhere. After the class reads the  practice phone conversation at the end, I have students use plastic bananas to act out the conversations in  front of the class.

Hi,

This ppt wasn't my original creation.  I just adapted it to follow the dialogue in the chapter better, and to balance out some of lines.

What I did with my students was assign a group of 4-6 to each character, Thor, Iron Man ect.  When their character was on the screen they had to read the lines like that character.

My students really enjoyed it, and have pretty much memorized the whole thing!
