for low level students, i usually put up pics and have them make a sentence using the key expressions. I assist them in every way possible and then have them repeat the sentence. Put up a few more for practice.

Today is the first time I looked at Grade 3 Lesson 7.  From my understanding, we're teaching our students how to be rude, obnoxious, and a know-it-all.  Did anyone else get that vibe?

I also love that it's the exact same vocabulary as Grade 2 (I can't believe that/That's amazing/What a surprise).

I think that's a great idea about the mini presentations though, and the loch ness monster clip.

This book, it just... it leaves me speechless.

Yes! I was so excited when we got it this year because, if you can believe it, last year's was actually worse. However, I had a big let down as soon as I opened it and read the material! Not only does it consistently steal material from Grade 2 (way more than Book 2 does from Book 1) but the reading passages are soooooo awkward. I still haven't forgiven them for Ch. 1.

Anyway, I suggest teaching "they say" instead of "it is said". Unless they're a story-teller "it is said" just sounds weird. I also suggest, for other frustrated teacher, to try and use less class time on book material if you're allowed to. Happily, my school is ok so long as I cover some of it, so I've been working on consistent problems with my students such as pronunciation. Next week we may just work on using articles correctly for half the class and book time for the rest. I'll share whatever I have if it works!

Grade 3  Lesson 7

I'm new to this book and I've got a lot of stuff to cover...I don't think I'll be able to cover all of this in one class and will probably have to supplement more for the next one.

Any ideas on how to spice it up would be greatly appreciated.

Future tense for Grade 1.

It's a little late, but I've been using this video and the attached worksheet as an Future Tense activity. This is my second year using the video and worksheet, so it's been tried and tested. I usually have them read the lyrics side first and then do the worksheet with VERY strict rules on "cunning".

It's Demi Lovato, one of the Disney kids. The students seem to really like the pop-y sound and I've been telling a bit of a lie by saying she's Justin Bieber's friend. But she probably is! I mean she's from the same Disney set as Selena Gomez, so they've likely at least met....

 I also have a game prepped, that I've yet to try out.

Basically, the class lines up in two lines, in front of two stacks of cards at the front. Each stack has identical "future" questions. Students on each team need to answer the question at the top of the card pile. If they get their answer wrong (grammar mistake) they need to take another card until they get it right. The first team to finish their stack wins. You'll probably need your co-teacher to listen to one line's answers while you listen to the other. This will probably be too hard for my mid and low level kiddies, so I'll figure out some sort of adaptation.

Hi ! I am new to teaching and to this site, and i am using these textbooks, but for the Grade 1 i have the 2009 edition, for Grade 2 i have the 2010 edition and for grade 3 i have the 2011 edition. I am told to use the texts, the activity books, as well as the teacher's guides. Im not really sure where to start lol also, i am told to only cover the speaking parts but that is only two pages in each lesson, so they said one page per lesson - i feel like it is hard to make a 45 minute lesson on so little any help would be greatly appreciated !!

Grade 1,2 and 3: Lesson 6 Week 2

Here are my contributions to Lesson 6 for all grades. I was feeling rather unimaginative and wanted to stick some kind of silly game on at the end of the lesson so I made a Lucky Wheel game for all three grades (obviously different questionjs for each grade) I've added in my introductory PPTs for each grade too in case they can be useful to anyone. The PPTs are cobbled together form other posters on here so cheers to the OPs!.

No problems Bethinkorea - glad you found it useful! The kids go crazy for Lucky wheel usually - I think they just like watching other teams get minus points! Kids can be so cruel....

I am working on some ideas for Lesson 7, Level 2 in the William Roszell version, and am having trouble coming up with a fun activity. Has anyone any activities that have worked well in the past? Input would be greatly appreciated!
