Has anyone started Grade 1 or 2 lesson 9 plans? I am only to work from the speaking page. I plan to do the speaking page and then build off of that with my own lesson plan.

I only saw one post with this information, thanks for that! But I was in search of other ideas to bring to my lesson.

If no one is on that lesson yet, I plan to look at your lesson plans from previous lessons to get ideas. Does anyone have one that they are really proud of? A lesson they took from the speaking out page and developed useful speaking activities that went along with that theme?

I haven't started lesson 9 yet because I won't teach it until after Chuseok, but I might take a stab at it Thursday.

Thanks. I don't start until after Chuseok as well, but as a new teacher I want to start preparing early so I can take time to revise it. Plus this week is just introductions for me, so my classes have been easy. Thanks again.

Grade 2: Lesson 8

This is a true/false PPT game about what animals can/can't do.  There is also a worksheet you can use before/after the game since I don't think the game will take up a whole 45-minute period.

Happy teaching!

This is my stuff I've been using for Grade 2 Lesson 7, Agree/Disagree.

There is a lower level and a higher level. Both have gone over pretty well with my students this week.

For the high level I used a survivor activity I found on here and the kids loved it.

Hope it helps!

My friend and I put together this for Grade 2, lesson 6 on physical descriptions.  It was a big hit with my kids.  I hope somebody can find it useful.

This is my lesson 7 for middles school first graders using the Thomas Orr books. I had the kids do the conversation but subbing the types of food in it for the pictures in my lesson. I had them answer the blanks in the first conversation by writing down the correct words on these individual white boards we have for the students. They also completed the sentences in concerning the second half of the lesson in this fashion.

I will include an alternate lesson and game for this chapter but I think the lesson 7 review is the better more concise and to the point lesson.

This is my chapter 8 lesson plan for middle school third graders using the Thomas Orr books. I don't know why the videos didn't work properly when i inserted them into the power point but I gave you the addresses to them where they were needed. Also including a game to go along with the lesson should you need to eat up some time.

Does anybody have any ideas for teaching the reading section? I had to do Sustainable Lifestyles today and I could literally see the life leaving my students as we read. How do you make a four page article about carbon dioxide interesting? Desperately need help!

I've attached my ppt for Grade 3, Lesson 7 - the students quite liked the pictures. The grammar part for the I should/shouldn't have part was taken from a previous poster. Sorry, I don't remember who!

These are two chapter 7 lesson plans for third grade middle school students using the Thomas Orr books. Both work well and should take up the whole class time. I stole some material from a lesson my brother gave me for the one entitled 3-7 lesson, so props to him or whoever he ripped off. The other lesson entitled 3-7 lesson review is another lesson I made to review this chapter because somehow I ended up needing to cover it twice (Krazy Korea). I had the students write the appropriate phrase for the pictures on these individual hand held white boards we have at my school, but you could just use paper.

Updated & New Lessons on My Site! (Speak Out)
« Reply #394 on: September 08, 2011, 02:50:56 PM »
Hello all,

I feel like it has been a while since I have posted but I wanted to let you know that I have updated some files on my site and uploaded a lot of materials on my site over the past few weeks. The link for my site is : http://www.cocoinkorea.com/teacher-materials/ and I have uploaded the following materials:

Grade 1: Chapters 1-8 ; ALL SPEAK OUT TOPICS
Grade 2: Chapters 1-8; ALL SPEAK OUT TOPICS and Chapter 9; Speak Out 1 (Prohibition - 금지하기)

I also want to make you aware of an excellent website for worksheets that I have been frequenting recently. It is called : busyteacher.org. There are tons of free worksheets and unlike sites such as eslprintables.com, you don't have to upload to download or go through an extensive sign-up process. You can simply register by signing in with your FB account and then you are free to upload all you want. I also like that a lot of the material is in .Word format so it is easily editable.

Have a great week, Happy Teaching, and Happy Chuseok!
(*Note: Please make sure to check my site often to see if I have uploaded new materials, I may not always have time or remember to post on Waygook ^^)

Here is a handout for grade 3, lesson 9.

It has crossword puzzle-style questions, but the students must then find these words in a wordsearch.  I will use this after doing the listening part since it doesn't take up the whole 45 minutes.

Also, I was wondering if anyone has ideas for the activity/game class for this lesson.  How can we make "Do you mind if...?" and "I appreciate it" fun??  :)

Happy Chuseok everyone!

Chapter 2, Lesson 9: "You're not supposed to..." with Environment theme

Students learn about the environment, the three R's (You're not supposed to...), listen to Jack Johnson's song "The Three R's" and do a gap fill worksheet, play Typhoon ppt environment team game, then independently complete the day's worksheet (if there's time!).

"It all comes back to you" (30 sec, attention grabbing introduction video clip):
