Here is my Grade 2 Lesson 11 'teach week' PPT and my 'activity week' review PPT.

The pictures for the 'guess the job' activity is attached - need one job card for each student. It is a very easy exercise but it gets them talking and practising the "I am interested in..." bit, which some of them have struggled with.
As it is an easy and quick activity, I then ask for volunteers to think of the job they want to do when they leave school and get the class to guess it from their "I am interested in..." clues.

I have been using the last 5 minutes of class for Pictionary, asking for a volunteer to draw a job that I tell them so the class can guess. I just write a job on a piece of paper and show it to the drawer (like pilot, astronaut, fire fighter etc). This is a nice way to end the class as the kids love this game and it creates a few laughs!

At the end of the PPT is a writing activity that I have given a worksheet for, although I didn't get time to do this in my lesson (I might use it in a review class later on).

hey so this ppt doesnt really have anything to do to with these books however seen as the people who have helped me the most on this thread i thought i would post it here.

It is a ppt to do with chat up lines/ pick up lines. It starts with the kpop challenge that someone posted earlier for 2nd grade lesson 11 (thank you so much for who ever created this my students love it.) The ppt also has some rules that im inforcing at the beginning aswell you can delete these as well if u want.

The ppt about the chat up lines has been taking 25-30min to do with my classes excluding the kpop challenge. Its a simple ppt just fill in the blanks but the students like it n so do my coteachers who normally stand at the back n do nothing r actually getting involved n asking me questions to

Here is my lesson for Grade 2, Chapter 12. I've also included the worksheet.

This lesson was a real hit with my S's. Especially the music sections. Just press the CD icon to let the song play and have the S's tell you the words for the blanks (and click on the Green ? to reveal the answer).

Part 1:
"I wish" Definition
TEXTBOOK pg. 161 (Speak Out)
S's will match the correct "I wish" phrase with the PPT slides

Part 2:
Adding Emphasis
Changing Adjectives (ex: Taller, Prettier, More Handsome, etc)

I have adapted someone's zombie lesson to be (somewhat) relevant to Grade 3's lesson 11.

It starts with a story, has some info about zombies, and tips on surviving an attack. After this, the students will create a survival plan. This is where the lesson stuff comes in: "We are planning to.... blah blah blah."

I have also spent some time looking for a YouTube zombie clip, but haven't found one that isn't too gorey and doesn't have swearing in it. If you have found any, please let me know!

Grade 2 Lesson 12 finished. My attempt to address the key expressions in a slightly humourous way, enjoy (keep in mind that one of the pictures is of me, so make sure to switch that out with a picture of yourself).

*Edit* anybody who is still using this lesson I noticed two typos.

Slide 3 should read jealousy not jealously
Slide 7 should read I wish I was beautiful like her not I wish beautiful like her (I forgot the I)

Not sure if this is in the right place but I will throw it up here anyway. It's a lesson on food tastes. I robbed the ppt as an open office doc and modified plus converted to .ppt. The game I made myself and the worksheet is also robbed and modified. Just about covers 45 mins depending on class level. Cheers to whoever I plagiarised for some of the items, can't remember your name, hope this is helpful to someone.

What are you guys going to do after you finish the book? Have any of you taught at a middle school for more than one year? I'm curious about the attitudes of the students after the finals. My students' final exams are during the second week of December, but I have two weeks of teaching left before the break, and then I have another couple of weeks before the actual school year ends. I noticed that my good students are having a hard time sitting still this week.

I guess you are not teaching Grade 3's? Lucky! It's very straight forward. After the final exam your students will have all their marks which means they don't have to listen any more. This means that the final few week is for interesting lessons and games (some people just show movies, but I think that is a total waste of us as a resource). Personally I found this Konglish lesson worked very well.

All 736 of my students (3rd grade) are finished with their finals today at 1pm...after that it is 7 weeks of filler materials to students who are bored out of their skulls, anxious about high school, hormone elevated etc etc etc... good times

Here's what I am doing:

1) Simpsons Bomb Game
2) Top 5 Game (using answers from their speaking tests)
3) Rebus and Riddles Lesson
4) Describing people activity and drawing lesson
5) Video

Each class I go to, they will draw from a hat one of these five lessons and that is what we will do for the day. After 5 weeks every class will have done all 5. No idea what I will do with the last 2 weeks yet, mostly hoping the school burns down before we get that far...

For 3rd grade they finish finals this friday. I have 3 days where they are off on their trip but overall i have about 6 or so weeks of teaching them. Since my after school is only 1st and 2nd grade though, I am just reworking those lessons to be for 3rd grade....there are things like the survey activities, create a comic book in groups, song challenges, etc

For 1st and 2nd...after their finals in december i have no clue what i'm teaching them. I'm hoping more inspiration hits before then because I'm running out of ideas although I can always rework an idea i used before....I'll get to it eventually haha

Thanks for your lesson 12 stuff guys! I really ran out of ideas for that one. I'll have to post my lesson 11 stuff when I get my laptop back from the tech guy since they are on that hard drive.

Luckily I only have three extra weeks to teach instead of 6....

I'm going to teach a Christmas Lesson and maybe a New Year's Lesson (In America) since my coteachers want me to share American culture with my students.

Then just fun lessons I find on here to keep the students somewhat entertained while still learning English!

I agree with you... (It's my 2nd year at a middle school.) From my own experience, the students seem to really go off the chain, especially the 3rd graders, if you open the book up post-exam. And, rightly so. I suppose I'd feel the same way if I were one of them. If you wanna still cover any target language/stuff from the book... maybe just be sneaky and put it into a PPT game or activity of the likes found on here. For instance, the really awesome Pororo, Starcraft, Mario, etc. games found in this thread are great.

1 - My PPT for the lesson to explain the vocab and review after the story (e.g. Elephant's can't...)

2 - Review PPT w/ quick fill in the blanks to go over Lesson 11's main language at the start of class.

3 - Snakes and Ladders Board Game to play after the Elephant Story. It uses the language from the story (e.g. I'll throw in _____). If you need to find dice and/or playdough/post-its to use for game markers.. just go to ALpha or any stationary store... maybe even E-Mart/Homeplus?

*** Please note -- I can't upload this cuz it's a Publisher file. I'll have to convert it, but I must go now. I will do it tomorrow.

A little while back on here, maybe page 30?, people were talking about activities/ideas for post-exam. Here are some song listening fill-in-the-blanks and accompanying word puzzles (I didn't make a puzzle for the Mariah one, sorry) that I made. I've used the Mariah Carey and Wham ones last year with good success. There are easy and more difficult versions of the fill-in-the-blanks since I have a few high-level classes.

Oh, as for the music... you can use YouTube to get the songs.

To start, I usually put up a question on the board like 'Who sings this?' with 3 choices a, b,c then play the song. Then go to the listening and writing.

The PPT to accompany Last Christmas also has some slides for explaining some of the idioms in the song. I never had time to do this, but if you do, it's there.

Here's another listen and fill in the blanks that I made for the Grinch song. I never used it because I didn't have anymore classes at the end of last year. But, I figure you could find the clip on YouTube and play it as well because it's pretty cute (well, in my opinion). Anyhow, just an idea. I have a word file with the full song and one with blanks.
