This is so cute! I wish I'd seen this before I did my own lesson! I think songs are a great way to get kids to interact with the topic and each other.

This idea is great! This video has pictures and things as well as the lyrics so it's a bit more interesting.

Grade 3 Lesson 8

To introduce the lesson, I start out by doing my usual greeting, and moving into a warm-up of a task that might take some time.  I am thinking a match stick brain puzzle.  I will put the students in teams of two to do this, and will time them to see who can do it the fastest.  Once each team finishes I will give them their time.  I will then introduce the main phrase for the chapter of "How long does it take you to..." and use this to ask the students how long it took them to complete the task.  I will also give them the proper response of "It takes me...."

I know this is a bit easier with smaller class sizes, but can easily be adapted with other activities to introduce the concept of "how long it takes'' to do something.  You could come up with a task that the whole class has to complete or something along those lines.

I hope this can help some out there!

Thanks! That's a great idea! My 3rd graders need something to wake them up at the beginning of class.

Here's a pass the bomb game that I made, combining Unit 8, Listen & Talk 1 and 2 (Redone from a different lesson made by user annekat - whose stuff I love, btw! Thanks to her!)

How do you play bomb pass?

How should I teach Grade 3 Lesson 7. It is about traveling.
Listen and Speak 2 B Practice with your friend
A: how was your subway tour of Seoul?
B: it was great.
A: Did you visit Jongmyo?
B: No, I didn't.
A: You should have visited it
The kids can also choose the words: great, OK, good, not bad, / see, visit, buy, eat go to...

So basically the grammatical constructs this lesson uses is: "how was ...?
                                                                                               "You should have seen..."
"I felt as if I were the kid in the movie."
"We walked to the house where Mozart was born."

Please, keep posting lesson ideas, particularly for:

Grade 3 Lesson 7,8...
Grade 2 :Lesson 8...

We have to help each other by sharing out ideas!

Grade 2 Lesson 7 Heroes in My Heart

I mostly have to teach the Warm-up, Speak & Listen 1 & 2, and pretty much follow the book.  It's pretty boring, but the lesson does cover most of the material in the book.

Grade 3 Lesson 6 The Spinning Coin

Here's a PPT that I did for the lesson. It follows the chaper well, and gets all the main expressions out.  It's mostly just lecture style, and needs some editing to make more fun.  For grade 3 I have to teach out of the text book, so that limits me some what.

Okay, I've just started GRADE 3 CHAPTER 8

(I adapted a ppt that was previously posted on here!)

-Start class with the PPT.  (10min)
They must copy the first slide into their textbooks (bottom of page 130).
They have only two sentences to say the whole class.

-Round Robin Activity.   (5-7min)
Girls first.  Then boys.  First girl asks the question to someone.  That someone answers and asks the question to a different person.  They have 1min. 30sec.  to see how many girls we can get through.
Whatever team gets through the most people, gets to line up first.

-Textbook page 131 (A,B,C)  (10min)

-Board Game with a partner.  (20min....5 of that to explain it)
*During board games we have a rule.  If someone drops their dice onto the floor....they must go back to start.

On lunch break saw people needed lesson plans.
Explanations are thin. Ask if you need more info. I did all these last week. They worked well.

Middle School Grade 1 Lesson 8

Idioms (idioms ppt and .doc)

Run the PPT. (found on the site else where)

Have them practice and use in a sentence.

Then take the .doc and cut into strips. Have the students break into teams and pull the strips. Groups must define AND use in a sentence. Game rules are at the end of the ppt.

Middle School Grade 2 Lesson 8

A Day at the Zoo (a day at the zoo ppt and .doc)

Run the PPT

Activity is a asking questions game attached as a work sheet.

Middle School Grade 3 Lesson 8

Proverbs

Listening and Comprehension Lesson

Read PPT story with movement. (from else where on this site)
Have student fins 3 meanings to the story.
Strength isn't everything
Friends can help you win
Someone is always better

Have students read the henry leech or mr park story. Then after 10minutes take away the paper and have them tell a partner their story in English as best they can.

then give students 3-4 proverbs and have them works as pairs to find the meaning.

practice speaking with both henry leech and the proverbs by getting volunteers.

Thanks for the info folks. I too am not a big fan of teaching mainly a "CD class" so I'm always on the lookout for something interesting and different (even if I get into a little trouble with the big whigs).

Hi Landis - sorry I'm so behind with this reply! For Pass the Bomb, students must pass the ball around the room (make sure they know that throwing is not allowed) as quickly as they can - sort of like hot potato. When the bomb on the Ppt explodes, whoever is holding the ball at that time has to make a sentence, answer a question, etc. It goes over very well with my classes!

I like to play pass the bomb with 2 balls.  For this game when the bomb went off the 2 students holding balls stood up.  One asked the question, and the other answered.  It worked out really well.
Thanks for posting your game.

I don't understand. How do you play the "asking questions game"? The worksheet doesn't make sense to me.

each work sheet has different combinations of rules and animals. The students need to use the vocab "You should not _____" for rules and  "How many ____ are there?" They ask each other in English and I gave out rewards for the people with the most rules/animals/rules&animals combined.

Print off the sheet pass it out to the students. First part is for new vocab they can learn and write the Korean translation.

This was my other lesson for grade 1.  It was on There is/are as well as "should".  Again, not the best example of a lesson but maybe it will help you get started?
