Grade 1 Lesson 9

A PPT reviewing some past tense and a simple drawing game based on the past tense. I have the students get into groups of 4 or 6 and make 2 teams. One student on each team is drawing and the others put their heads down as I show the past tense sentence. Then I say "start" and the 2 students try to draw a picture representing the sentence as their teammates try to guess what it is. The first team to guess wins that round. At the end, whichever team won the most rounds is the winner.

Grade 1 Lesson 9:  Feelings and Past tense

Intro:  Ask the Ss how they feel.  Watch video and ask how the baby feels.
Feelings:  Ss choose the correct feelings.  Talk about why the people feel the way they do.
My Weekend:  Ss ask what the T did last weekend.  (You can add your own pictures).  T asks Ss what they did last weekend.
Information Gap:  Give each S an information gap card (attached).  Ss walk around and find a friend, and play rock paper scissors.  The winner asks the loser "What did you do ______."  The loser says "I _____." and the winner writes the response, as well as the loser's name.  Give each S a number (pg. 37).  They must say this when they do the activity.
Codebreaker:   Divide the class into the same groups.  Give them a codebreaker sheet (A=23 B=24, etc.).  Show a sentence and the groups must write down the answer on the whiteboard.  The first team to finish is the winner.

Let me know if you have any questions about the directions!

Grade 2 lesson 8 bomb game. Fairly easy game based around "There is & There are". Students will need some basic vocab like trees, monkeys, lions, windows etc. but if this is too hard you can adjust the ppt and write those words in.

Grade 3 Lesson 8

Simple drawing game based on "My favorite possession is ________." I have the students get into groups of 4 or 6 and make 2 teams. Grade 3 - Lesson 9 - Economics Helps

Development: Listen and Speak pt. 1 - A, B, C

Activity: Price is Right - I took a version of this PPT game from another site and modified it a bit. It is Hyundai Department Store items and prices. This version included "bonus" fill in the blank questions which I changed to include information from lessons 7, 8, and 9 (mainly Listen and Speak pt. 1 since that is what I have to teach) since midterms are just around the corner.
Today was my first day playing and even though it is simple (because my students are pretty low level) they had a lot of fun with it.

There are other versions of "The Price is Right" floating around on waygook so if this one is too simple or doesn't meet all your needs I'm sure you can find one that will  :)

I just finished this PPT for my Second graders. It's Lesson 7 "Heroes in my Heart"

to start of the class we talked about what the difference is between a superhero and a hero.
On the guess that part, i made the students tell me what the hero's "power" was and super hero's power was
For example; Mother Teresa--her power was to help poor children  Storm: She can change the weather.

At the end of the lesson I let the students watch The Avengers--They got a kick outta that!

Feel free to tweak and peak to your liking!!

Eugene this game looks amazing. Thanks for sharing! Just one question though: should it play music? I've opened it and it's silent :( Thank you

Does anyone have any good material for Grade 2, Lesson 10, "Let's Draw our Future"?  I can't seem to find much on here for this lesson.  Given that the theme is the future, I was thinking about planning the lesson around the movie, "Back to the Future", although I'm not quite sure which scenes to include, and what activity to have (maybe a listening/fill in activity, showing clips from Part 2 where Marty goes to 2015)  Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi Eugene. Still no sound for me when I downloaded it but thank you for trying. Maybe it can be fixed if it's given to Daejeon (if he's still around) or Sprite something (can't remember his full username) because they're the two who make loads of Powerpoint games and share on Waygook....

This is what I rolled out for Grade 3 lesson 8. I pretty much took all of it from other teachers on here but I thought I would share how I mashed it together. Focus on 'How long does it take you to...?' 'It takes me about....'.

First: Run the Powerpoint that presents the language. This takes fewer than 5 minutes.
Second: Students play board game in threes. This game really has gone down well! Just explain all the special squares (I put the Word document on the screen so I could point). For your more capable students you can give them game boards without the language written on them. I let them play the game for 10 minutes or so. They were always sad when I ended the activity.
Third: Play the pass the bomb game. I used two Angry Bird toys and explained that the student with the blue one had to ask the question and the student with the red one had to answer. I also explained that they weren't to throw the bord over arm at people and also not to move away if the bird was thrown at them because often the girls did!
Last: Students write their own sentence quickly using 'How long does it take you to...?'. We do boys vs girls and each student has to ask the student next to them their question and that student answers. Repeat and see how many boys/girls you can get through in one minute. It was difficult to get all the students to listen as we went round so maybe you could change how you do this.

Like I said, this is all basically stolen but this class has worked very well in this format. There was also a lot of student talk time and was very low on teacher talk time. Other than trying to get their attention back when the bomb exploded there was very little teacher stress time too (I whipped out the microphone and that worked).

Enjoy!

Grade 1 lesson 9

Here is what I will present for first grade starting tomorrow. Some is stolen and some is not but again I think it's always good to share with the modifications we've made!

I will focus on the past tense and have selected 9 verbs.

1. Run main PPT and elicit the past tense on each of the slides. To check, show the collage of all 9 and elicit the past tense verb when pointing at the picture.
2. Students play Battleship. Thanks adamjaythomas! Fast finishers can play again using a different coloured pen/pencil.
3. Mingle activity where I give each student a card and they have to find the other 8 cards by speaking to their classmates. This is explained in the first PPT. The dialogue they should use is also there in the example. I will print the montage of pictures out in colour a few times and cut it out; this will be the cards I hand out!
4. Students have to say 'yesterday I.....' and then a short sentence using one of the verbs (these will be on the screen). They go round the table saying a new thing and everything that's come before. I've put an example in the PPT as it's hard to explain. I will demo this rather than try to explain. Students compete with other tables to see how many times they can go around without forgetting though this relies on the students being honest!

Depending on how long the Battleship game seems to require, I will cut out the mingle activity.

Hope this helps someone on the typhoony Sunday evening!!

Grade 3 Lesson 8 part II - The second class we reviewed with a pass the paper game and then began with/without. Followed by the mondified bomb game. Also reviewed the worksheet from the last class (wrote many of the answers on the board for a reference later)
For modified game - see post right before this one.

Grade 1 Lesson 8 - Part II. Reviewed using the game Hot seat then we did listening and new vocabulary. Then handed out a word search with the new words. Just made a wordsearch online by googling "make your own wordsearch"

Hey this is a bit late because I'm new to this website, but wanted to share my prezi lessons with everyone.
Here is the link to my prezi for Grade 2 Lesson 8 "Excuse Me?"
http://prezi.com/iqnio7e81tbg/excuse-me-expressions/?utm_source=share&utm_campaign=shareprezi&utm_medium=email
I have some videos in there so make sure you just play it from this link. I tried downloading it, but then the youtube videos wouldn't play.  This lesson starts with teaching them about the different meanings of "Excuse Me?" then there are three short videos where they watch and guess what the meaning of excuse me is in each. After they have time to practice with a partner the dialogue in the book. Then we take a break from excuse me and go to "is/are" and "should not/must not" mini lesson that goes with an activity on the next page of the book in ch. 8.  Lastly, if there is still time left in class, I added a 5 minute video called "what song are you listening to?" it's too hard to hear the people's reactions to the question because of all the music playing so I listed all the different ways the people say "excuse me?" so the students could try and follow along.  This is my first time posting so let me know if this link doesn't work or if I did anything wrong :)

Grade 2: Lesson 7 and Lesson 8

This is a review quiz for Grade 2 students. It concentrates on Lesson 7-Heroes in my heart and Lesson 8-Animals partners. It reviews the grammar and other language points and I have made it so that teams compete to wins points.
I usually split the class into three teams, so that each team will have seven questions to answer. Hopefully this can be of use to someone.
