Page 85. Listen and speak 2(a). Look no further for a lesson. I pulled out all the stops for my open class. It's all pretty self explanatory. The yugioh bomb game was made by sprite06. I just edited it with relevant questions.

I made a couple of bomb review games.  They are kind of like a super specific textbook scavenger hunt for chapters 4-6.  Makes the kids read the text books for 45 mins without realizing they are studying.  give them white boards and a marker, have them write out the answers with correct punctuation and stick it in the air.  fastest gets the points.  Gives kids with lower level english a good chance at winning.

Here's a PPT I made for the Grade 1 - Lesson 4: Abracadabra (Part 1):

1) Introduction to Lesson Objectives - Abracadabra & Hobbies (This requires you to look for a video of a magic trick of some sort to show the students as an attention grabber.)

2) "Guess the Hobby" Activity (Students learn about describing different hobbies and they are asked to guess the hobby that is being described to them. The vocabulary used in this part of the lesson may be too difficult and so you can simplify to fit your students...)

3)  "What's My Hobby" Writing and Speaking Practice (Students are asked to write a description about their own hobby BUT they cannot say what their hobby is in their description. This allows for another round of "guess the hobby" after they finish writing their sentences, but this time the students are presenting their descriptions in front of the class and the rest of the class is making a guess.)

Note: I only teach based on the general topic of the lesson rather than the actual content in the book.

Hey guys:

I've attached a Jeopardy game. It's just a filler PPT in case you want to take a break from the books. It covers facts about the human body. Hope it helps!

Here's Part 2 to my lesson for Grade 1 - Lesson 4: Abracadabra....

1) Warm-Up Game: Hot Seat (Play a game of hot seat with the students with pictures of various hobbies on the PPT. This is to allow them to review what they did in my previous class where they've learned to describe different hobbies. The students need to try to describe the hobbies they see on the PPT to the person sitting in the "hot seat". And they need to do this in English only and no actions!)

2) How often do you...? (Teach them about "How often do you...? and ways to answer this question. I focused on the words: everyday, once/twice a week or month, _______ times a week or month. For example, How often do you go to watch a movie? I go to watch a movie twice a month. You can a lot more terms here like: always, sometimes, usually, seldom... But I didn't because my students were already taught these from their Korean English teacher.)

3) What's your hobby? - Speaking Practice (Have the students do some speaking practice where they ask each other: what is your hobby, how often do you do this hobby, why do you enjoy this hobby? I gave them a dialogue on the PPT to practice with a partner and then pairs of students came up to the front of the class to present what they've practised together. By the way, you can change the questions to this dialogue to whatever you can come up with as long as it is related to the topic of hobbies I guess.)

Hope this is useful for someone! :)

Grade 1 - Angry Birds review game for lessons 4-6 using Daejeon's template.

I gave each team a fan which they had to raise to be able to answer the questions. Some of the higher level kids were raising the fan before they'd read the question so you have to watch for that and I also got them to put their hands on their heads to stop them cheating and holding the fan.

Grade 1 lesson 7 focusing on "you should..."

Here are 2 choose your own adventure games. I have the class vote on each choice by raising their hand and then I have the class read the winning choice out loud together ("He should open the door.")

Grade 3 Lesson 7 focusing on the past tense

My students are a pretty low level so here is a simple pass the paper game. I have them get in groups of 6 and pass the paper until the music stops. The students that have the paper come up to the front of the room and have a dialogue:
A: How was your summer vacation?
B: It was good/bad/boring/exciting...
A: What did you do?
B: I visited/played/went to...

Continue this down the line with each student being A and B and after the last student is B he/she will be A while the first student is B.

I'm going to use this for grade 2 lesson 7 as well since I can't think of anything good for the dialogue ("That's surprising!").

How's everyone doing planning for Grade 2 lesson 7? There are a few useful Powerpoints on here about heroes but not much in the way of speaking activities to get students to practise the target language. Help? Thanks :)

^ I have the same problem every week. It gets a little difficult to make 45 minute supplementary lessons for expressions like "I want to ..." and "I'm good at ..." Also, hi Deva. Didn't realize you also taught middle school.

Grade 1 - Lesson 7

Focus on: You should..

So this is what I will do with my first graders starting tomorrow. Lots of the Powerpoint has been stolen from someone else on here (thanks!) and I've added bit, changed bits etc. Oh and I made a worksheet! I don't intend to do all the activities with all classes (who are separated by ability) but will choose what's appropriate for each. I attach the 'problem cards' that someone else made which I have laminated. I intend on given each table of 6 a set of 18 and then with their partner they can pick from off the table (cards being face down). Hope this helps someone!

Oh and this is a link to the video on Youtube which you'll probably have to reinsert into the ppt: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-g73ty9v04

UPDATE: I have uploaded the edited ppt as per my message below.

FYI re the above lesson: just did it with one of my level B groups and it turns out the ppt is too long at the beginning to hold their attention so I'm cutting lots out.

Think I gave some for the first semester.  Did I upload some for the second?  Well, I made some editing.  You can change them as your feel like.  "Phrases" are ones used in the book but changed into something more amusing.  If you make great additions, please upload them yourself and share.  This is what I have so far for Grade one.
