This might give us some ideas about how to teach Lesson 4 - Listen and Speak 2 (Grade 1). The target language is That's surprising! and What a surprise!

The video is of a Korean orphan/manual laborer who has an amazing voice

My students are not interested in English at all. In a class of 25 learners, only 5 is interested in learning English. What can I do to get them more involved with me and learning English?
Thank you for all the helpful tips and information!

Grade 3 - Lesson 4 - Sudden Attack Game

Here's an edited version of someone's Sudden Attack game I found here.  It's really simple but I added some sound effects and it should help them learn some of the dialogue and expressions in Lesson 4.

Grade 1 Lesson 4 Listen and Speak 2. One point if they get the answer correct, none if they don't. Then they choose a pipe for bonus points/steal/swap....The next slide shows some unusual fact. One student reads it aloud and the other replied with one of the key expressions (no points if the expression sounds robotic!)Then it's the next team's turn.

This is what I did as a warm-up for my students--I really didnt know much about Beak NAMJUNE, but I wanted to talk about art and other famous artists....
My students loved the warm up because It talked about something other than "Korean" things! Hope you like!

Hey guys: I've attached a PPT on genres. It's a lesson for 3rd years, but simple enough for all levels as a filler. Hope it helps.

This lesson completely sucked the first time I did it. So I changed it around. Simplified the questions. Changed the template. And with the assistance of a very good co-teacher, explained the betting process. Second time round was a great success. It's probably too late to use in regular classes by now. But maybe you could use it for afterschool classes.

Phone Conversations/Phone Dialogue Powerpoint for Grade 2 - Lesson 5 Listen and Speak 1 (Class Party)

As always, please check/review the PowerPoint before using it in your classes. The  PowerPoint files that I upload may have unintentional errors/mistakes.

You may want to delete the last few slides because they are incomplete.
I wanted to play a game, but I was unable to finish the slides for the game

Maybe you can add to the PowerPoint by using the dialogues from page 229 and pages 235 to 236 of the pink Activity Book (Grade 2)

Maybe you can use the 3 video files as a fun introduction (or closing) for the lesson

This PowerPoint is a combination of different phone conversation PowerPoint files that I found on Waygook, with some additions of my own.

One of the PowerPoints that I used was uploaded by jproux http://waygook.org/index.php?action=profile;u=4358. Thank you!

Although I frequently forget where I found the original files, THANK YOU to all the people who uploaded the original files

Grade 3 Lesson 5

Intro:  Watch video of famous people(I turned the sound off because the music is so cheesy)
Intro Activity:  Make groups of 3 or 4 and give each group a blank piece of paper.  They must write as many
names of famous people as possible within 2 minutes.  (Rules:  must be western people (no
Korean), no singers, actors, sport stars, etc.) Then, groups must say the names out loud (1
point for each name.  The group with the most names gets a prize.
Famous Americans: Talk about famous Americans.  Students try to translate the sentences for points.
Guessing Game:  Describe the famous person.
Hot Seat:  Students describe the famous person and other students guess.

Here is another good Riddle warm up I used for my #rd graders--They really had to think about the answers!!!

Usually I would split them up into teams, but I just wanted to see if they could reeally think outside the box!!

Hope you like!

You can use this PPT as a warm-up or Wrap-up for 3rd Grad-Lesson 1 "My dream Job"

Its funny, No matter how many times I show Will Smith's picture every anwer is "OBAMA"

You can also transfer it to a "Golden Bell" type game--The students can write on the whiteboard the correct answer.

I made this ppt for 3rd Grade Lesson 2 Special memories---Its a basic warm up with pictures tha the students can guess what the memory is about.

Example: I broke my leg. It was a bad memory.  I had a suprise birthday party. I was a specal memory.

If it doesn't work for you, then tweak it to your liking!! :)

These are the two intro games for grade 1 and 2 lesson 5.
For the "worksheet" i'm using another teacher's doc. "making an invitation."
I just tweaked it. Students will write on them and then present them.

Hey,

made this lesson for Grade 3 - Lesson 5 "The Father of video Art".  I have a lot of liberty to do what I want so I decided to focus mostly on art.  Took a few lessons I found on here, put them together and made into some sort of game.  Also including the handout.  Any questions, just ask!

Also included the videos I used.  The lesson is a little long for the 45 minute time slot, so feel free to cut out anything that doesn't work for you!

Cheers,
J
