Canucktim- do you happen to have the original file for the one sided dialogue?  I'd like to make a small change!! Otherwise, this ppt is awesome!  I've never done word auction with my students so I hope it pans out well.  What is the amount of money that each group starts out with??  Sorry for bothering you, but your post is definitely a winner!

Grade 1, Lesson 4 - Fashionable or Not

Rather than posting anything original, I'll just provide this link. It matches up with the chapter very nicely. http://waygook.org/index.php/topic,959.0.html

Also, here's my Frankenstein's monster of dsob's Grade 2, lesson 3 lesson with another one I found (from another text book, but I guess the same speaking points tend to pop up!), all tied together with my favorite fill-in-the-blank and more fancy graphics/animations. I focus on the phrases/grammar mentioned in the Function File, so this one is "I look forward to it"-based.

To clarify: Grade 2, Lesson 3: Introducing one friend to another.

*Edit: Forgot to add the .doc with all the pictures of famous people for the students to introduce to their friends in pairs. Be warned: the funny/interesting pictures gets beat up all as heck and only IU escaped in pristine condition after my 11 classes. I suggest laminating. I had to threaten Bart-style writing lines as punishment when one boy destroyed my Obama picture with red crayon. XP

There's about 30 people, and Hyun Bin is repeated.

Sorry for those non-American waygooks out there... as part of this is geared towards American money... its the culture I know best.

How long does the auction game typically take?

I plan on trying to do it in 20 minutes. Too rushed? What do you think?

I usually take about twenty, depends on the level of students and their attention. 5-10 minutes for explanation, and 10-15 to play the game, but no big deal if you don't finish the questions.

Hi, thanks for all the hard work to everybody on this site! This is my first time teaching middle school so still getting used to the students and the teaching style, but here is a PPT about hobbies for Grade 2.  I have low level students and they seem to enjoy these kind of games.

The game is describing the slide:  this game has worked best when boys and girls were competing with each other:  one student from each group sits with their backs to the screen while the others had to explain what was on the screen.  The student needs to say I am interested in____ or I enjoy ___ whatever was on the screen.  The first student to say this gets 5 points, if the others say it they get 3 points.

Hope someone finds it useful  :)

Hi Guys,

I know most of you will probably be past the Grade 3, Lesson 2, but I'll just share what I did last week. Very simple idea but worked well. (I've been given the freedom to work from the textbook if I want.) Sorry, I don't have a lesson plan.

Taking the key phrase "I'd like to introduce you to my friend ....."  I said to the students I needed help and they were going to teach ME today. "I want to learn more about some famous Koreans." I paired up the students. Each pair was given a picture of a famous Korean actor, singer, business man.

They then had to draft an introduction speech telling me, which included, who the person in the picture was, where they're from, what they did  and anymore information they knew. They then had to do a good copy. This will be displayed in the classroom. We ran out of time but next class the students will present or introduce their person to the class.

It worked well and they all got their buzz out of all the pictures floating around the room of famous koreans. Great eye candy too   ;)

This is a powerpoint that I used for Lesson 3 Piggy Banks for Grade 3.
I definitely used someone else's powerpoint although I cannot remember who, but I added a pronunciation section for the Function file part in the chapter.

The kids really had fun doing the tongue twisters, and it's a good opportunity for you to get some brownie points with the kids if you can say them fast!

I used this in two of my classes; it definitely kept the students' attention.  One of my co-teachers loved it so much she asked me to give her a copy of it.  The other co-teacher thought it was good but wants me to work out of the textbook more, although she mentioned that her class has never paid so much attention before.

Anyone got any ideas for Grade 2 Lesson 3 - The 'I'm going...Can you go to...I'm looking forward to" part of the book? (Textbook exercises 40B, 41B, 41C & 42B, 43A)

I'm struggling a wee bit this week - thinking of having students in pairs plan a tour or something similar for their partner...

Just finished a Grade 3 'Who's Calling?' lesson with my coma patient Monday morning class and they all took part and went away smiling!  The 'i-phones' - made from cardboard boxes and googled i-phone pictures helped.  It's simple, but it worked.

Alikaz - I'm struggling with that Grade 2 lesson too.  I have to teach it tomorrow pm so I'll post it before then, assuming I'm not right up to the wall for finishing it or that you don't get inspired and  post something for me to copy before then.

Haven't written up a plan yet, but think I'm going to do something along these lines:
Work through  activity 41B & 42B. Then do a production exercise where I show various pictures (like travelling to the moon, extreme sports etc. things that they will enjoy) that the students pick from and then ask their partner if they're interested and if they would like to go with them. Will have them practice and share with the class. Can't think of a game which works in well with this, but my last class with awesome pictures was a success so hopefully this will please them haha

Found this Presentation on Ex Sport thought it might help to tailor the class too i am planning on doing a similar sort of Thing least give you some ideas of sports to use.

Nice thanks for that Hayley. If anyone wants a bizarre extreme sports video to show their kids this one could be good. I'm gonna give it a whirl, hopefully they like it!

Grade 3 - Lesson 3... two worksheets that may be useful for a telephone lesson. I did not make these, but there one is for higher level and another for lower level.

Midterms coming up for my kids and for me, the first time I have to give speaking tests. However, this week will be spent on review. I've taken bomb game templates and put in questions from the speaking and file function parts of the three lessons.

How do you guys typically review for tests?

Inspired by dsob's "What will you be doing in 15 years?" and cobbled with a few slides from another ppt from one of the other book. XD Pretty much covers page 42B part for speaking and the latter two sections of the function file

Grade 2, Lesson 3 (speaking part B and half of function file)
I just talked about what you say when you're late to meeting friends or going to class. Then who do you apologize to. Difference between 5 and 30 minutes late.
