Hi all,
I've found that my students really get the key phrases in the book pounded into their heads when they play the simpsons game.  I use the first powerpoint in conjunction with the textbook so they know where these phrases are coming from.  After getting them to practice a little bit in class I pull out the simpsons game which has a mix of questions from the lesson as well as some really random and fun questions to throw them off.  Please improve and repost!

Grade 1 Lesson 4 (some content taken from some other stuff here and would go good with the same ppt made for this lesson a page or so back?)

Grade 3 Lesson 4 (this might go good with a lesson 4 ppt on this page somewhere)

Grade 2 Lesson 4 ( some content maybe form here too and may goo good with the world food powerpoint that some one else made)

As you know I am probably the big smart guy of all TESOL.

I think it is good for me to help out you guys who make boring lessons that are not as good as mine. Anyway I would also like to take this time to thank the kids who made some other content here that I have of course made so much better as I am a great person of higher lurning.

Anyhow THANKS for all the Great stuff you put on here and sorry if I was negative before about this site but I was having some problems that are best not touched on here.

Here's Grade 3 Review Lessons 1-3.  There are some things that are specific to my lessons- like when I taught about American money, so just a few slides will have to be changed, but I tried to put a variety of different portions of the book and lessons in there.  Enjoy!

More of the thanks, less of the arrogance - it's not needed!

The whole point of this website is that it is a network of teachers building on each other's work so that everyone improves. It is not a place for you to inflate your ego further and diss other teacher's work - you can rant to yourself in the mirror, taxi driver style, if that's what you want to do.

Grade 3 Lesson 1-3 Review game via girls generation
« Reply #224 on: April 22, 2011, 08:54:13 AM »
Grade 3 Review game to download below lessons 1-3 and some vocabulary in the sections.  It covers reading comprehension, fill in the blank, putting events in order, and multiple choice and dialogue.  It is based from the girls generation template.  You can add, subtract, and are free to edit as you wish. Even though I don't teach from the book ever, I want to show that I'm interested in students success.  Also it makes me look busy lesson planning something.  As a teacher, a students success is also yours right?  Enjoy it :)

*Update my coteachers told me that they may cancel classes because they're behind so I may not be able to use my review :(
Oh well if its useful for you please use it.

GRADE 3 Lesson 4  Listening part  "BEFORE you go to dentist  UR sapossed ta brush ur teeth" ect.

Ok listen pls pardon me if I am too arogant and proud speaking. But, let me be honest about some of the stuff I see here-

  • ok it as NO pictures - you should have at least one small picture in ur handout to talyour toward visul image lurner styles - that's scentific not my opinion.

you need to try to use the students culture more - students like foolish pop bands like 2ne1 and Big Bong they have no intrest in general phrases like 'play soccer at the park' you need to isert names of korea heroes Pak ji sun - then the name of ur local park like Pak ji sun played soccer at the Ulsan World cup stadium with teacher Derek...

Also you need to try to invole the students into the dialogue so they can make it their own by reworking it with their own ideas and interests -

and finally u all should just realize I do have mor esl and book writing skill then you guys and - even if the truth hurts - yes some of these lessons I see are boring - but I hope if you see how cool and applicable my lessens are you can lurn and benift from me....

I do not want to come off as full of pride or saying I am beetter than you guys I do get a lot of GREat PPTs and other ideas here -- THANKS - but I wuld be a big fat liar ( well I mean Liar I am overwight) if I said my lessons are a lot cooler than most oters here. Anyhow I still am gratful fo r the ppts especailly I dont want to start angy arguments but critism is good if you want to see how to make some improvements in ur lessens

Ok thanks

Ok thanks

I agree that a few of my worksheets could be better with the odd picture or two. As for adding Korean culture, yes, again you are right - it certainly keeps them more interested. BUT shoving a few photos onto a worksheet that cover up text and make the formatting look poor; I do not see this as a major improvement that warrant the high praise you are giving yourself.

Anyway I cant be bothered to have an online argument over a disagreement with teaching styles. Lets just all keep uploading our work (be it "boring") and hopefully we can all "benift" form each other and improve our individual lessons so we can teach however we want to.

P.S. Google Chrome has a built in spell checker

I'm sure your lessons are great but there's no need to put down other people's lessons even if they don't appeal to "visul image lurner styles."

Yes, that was absolutely unnecessary. You can easily give positive suggestions without coming off like a big, fat jerk, but you failed. Let's keep the criticisms constructive, eh? Dave, you do a great job and I really appreciate how much effort you put into this website. It's because of contributors like you that I go into my classroom feeling fully prepared every week.

Grade 1 - Fashionable or not.

Hey I am reposting a PowerPoint and two worksheets I downloaded from here last week (thanks!). The lesson went down really well with my students so far. I made a slight change to the PowerPoint and added different pictures to the boys and girls catalog. Basically run through the PowerPoint and have the kids choose clothing from the catalogs. They write down there selections and then present to the rest of the class. Thanks to the original poster!

Cheers

Hi
I have a very big class of Grade 3 students and even though they are very keen to participate, the material in the book is a little boring for them.  So I thought about using the small white boards in class.  I did mind maps with them, using words in their textbook, eg friendship.  They were much more creative, everybody seemed to participate and they even presented their work in front of the class.  A successful, nothing to prepare lesson.  I hope someone will find it useful.

Lesson 4 sounds are /th/ for 1st grade;  "up" & "put" for 2nd; and "ou", "about", "cow" for 3rd.
(i can't be bothered to look up the phonetic symbols)

anyone know of any pop songs that feature these?

I think you mean Lesson 3. I don't have a song but I do have this PPT that I've been using for "th". I've been using Korean vowels to demonstrate the different "u" sounds (be sure to emphasize that it's "put", not "poot"; "full", not "fool" as many of them say.) I don't have Grade 3.

I'm having an open class coming up and I'm trying to do a lesson plan that is fun and will keep the kids engaged. I'm doing one on superheroes and villains, where they will create ther own, choosing from different layouts and also different personalitites such as "likes to help people" or "only wants money and power" The only trouble I'm having is trying to think of a better way to get them to talk more. They already have to describe and talk about their her/villain, but what else can I get them to do? Any ideas would be awesome.

I'm so glad I found this section of lesson planning. All of my friends that teach Middle School use all different books so I can never share ideas with them. This is perfect. Also, the best part about these books is making fun of the atrocious acting on the cd rom with my students. They love it. :P

A Late Easter Lesson
« Reply #239 on: April 27, 2011, 09:04:24 AM »
Hey guys!  This week my school had midterms Monday through Wednesday, leaving me with classes on Thursday and Friday.  So, since I didn't have a chance to do an Easter lesson before Easter, I decided to use these two days to do a culture lesson!

Below is my ppt I re-created from another ppt on here!  Good questions/points guys!! All I did was make all of the statements into questions - it worked really well for the Valentines lesson I did a few months ago and the students love it.  Then, I created a bomb-like easter game at the end to review.

I am also doing a school-wide easter egg hunt with paper easter eggs that I am hiding around the school today.  Each grade has a different color.  Basically, if they find one, they bring it to me and I give them easter candy!

Super easy!
