I can't remember who posted the Minesweeper game, or who made it originally, but whoever you are, many, many thanks.  I just did a lesson with a slightly modified version and it went brilliantly even though conditions were less than ideal.. My co-teacher loved it.

No lesson plan yet, but it's simple: I precede each game with practicing the target language from the text book.  In case anyone does use it - there is a hidden 'mini-snickers' on each of the minefields that I gave out as additional incentives so change them or have a prize ready!

Hi,
I am looking for some ideas for Grade 3 Chapter 4, fun time section for my classes next week.
I am trying to make a game or something interesting for I'm supposed to. My students are getting sick of hand out work sheets. Does anyone know of any videos or music songs that incorporate "You're supposed to...."???
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I played this Simpsons Bomb Game after practising the vocab from the book.  It includes some spelling from the vocab lists in the activity book too.

The only song I can think of with 'you're supposed to' in the lyrics is 'You're supposed to be my friend' by the Indie band '1990's' from Glasgow - don't know how appropriate it is.

Not sure how appropriate that song is either, but love the 1990s. Will have to listen to it again and see if it might work as this is my open class.

This is my open class based on lesson 4 Grade 2, its my second class teaching lesson 4 from the text book, so this is a finishing lesson. It's all about giving excuses of why not to eat something - so what better way than to show them disgusting food. I've uploaded my lesson plans which is a rarity because theyre normally hand written and a menu template. Then my PPT can be found at http://prezi.com/j-tftkdfuseg/29-thats-disgusting/

Whats everyone else doing for their open class and when are you having yours?

Thanks to mojussa for the girls generation ppt review.  I switched it up and made it a speaking and listening game for Grade 1 Chapter 4.

Sonya,

You're welcome! Actually I got one of my coteachers on waygook.org because she likes the material on here to use.  She's a new teacher and we downloaded this powerpoint you made.  I'm not teaching 1st year this semester but my coteacher teaching that grade find it quite helpful so we thank you too.
I'm not a vlogger or blogger, so I make videos of things I do in and around school and Korea.

My usual format for grade 3. This is the speaking lesson as I only do that part of the book.

My school is a little behind since we had exams, Children's Day, Buddha's birthday, and a 3-day long field trip in the past 2 weeks.  So needless to say, here's Lesson 4 for grades 1, 2, and 3.  I'll be using the World Food ppt (will repost so that you don't have to go searching for it) and I twisted a little bit of (I *THINK*) dsobs 3rd graders lesson and added a WKS for it.  So thanks to all and enjoy!

Also, last year, with my 1st graders, as they were doing food and menus and yada yada, I had them make a menu for their own restaurant and then they pretended to be waiters and waitresses and had others order from their menus.  It was a lot of fun!  Just a suggestion for 2nd graders.

Grade 3, Lesson 5A: Performance Anxiety

Just did this lesson with my first class and it went over really well. There was no co-teacher in the room for a class that acts out at times, but they listened and really enjoyed the lesson. My co-teachers have asked that I do the listening/speaking pages and activities, so it does go to the book half-way through the PowePoint before going back into my own lesson.

Also, ianirich and I have made videos together, as it's painful to watch the videos included on the CDs. The kids laugh so hard when I play the dancing videos (book and homemade). What a weird dialog set this book has.

Hope it's helpful!

Grade 1 Lesson 5 A different Treasure Hunt Work sheet

Grade 1 lesson 5 A different Treasure Hunt - speak and listen partner meomry game

Grade 2 Lesson 5 priceless toys speak and listen partner meomry game

Edit:
Oh I add on two lessons they is a speak and listen execise - ok u have to cut the paper in half - one partner (or group ) gets one set and the other gropu or parthner gets the other. Yeah yeah so then like the person listen and he fills in the sentence the partner / other group says - DONT LET THME SEE THE OTHER SET OF DIALOUGGES OR U WRECK THE GAME!
oh yeah and you can play the little movies before you do this execise (the movie s that gowith the book) as a sort of intro first.

This is pretty cool but you have to make sure kidz dont cheat and maybe seperate them in gropus so they like chat and cant se ther sheet cool so good luck!

Wow that no stress song thing is kinda cool maybee I gonna use it l8r. I have been working out alot at the gym myself to relieve stress and my extra 40 pounds too  Thanks again and keep those cewl PPTs comin. c u all at the beach this summer - I will be the fat blond guy with the beer  ::)

Alexandrateacher........you're the greatest! Thanks for coming to my rescue.

I'm using the more popular textbooks by Johanna Haas at my middle school. Well, I could say I was doing just fine. Only few weeks ago I've been given an additonal middle school for fridays that uses textbooks by Kim, and this is when my nightmare started. Thank you so-much for your wonderful material!

Thanks for posting this lesson, it looks great.  I'm experiencing a big lack of motivation and inspiration this week after so many of my lessons are cancelled for one reason or another so it's really useful to be able to dip into this thread and find tried and tested ideas.

I just wondered how you do the 'disappearing text' bit.  I've played this with my smaller after-school groups, but how do you do it with a whole class?  Do you just get them to chant in unison?  I'm never keen on that, I don't know why.  Maybe because I was one of those kids who mimed mindlessly and even then, only if I thought the teacher was watching.  ::)

Hi all,

These are my lesson powerpoints for:
GRADE 2 Lesson 6- See the World
GRADE 3 Lesson 6- Day by Day

I have small clips that go with the powerpoints but I don't want to upload all of them.  Please send me a message if you want me to send you the clips.

I do get everyone to chant in unison. I agree that maybe only 60% of the class get involved and actually try hard - probably an even lower percentage for my low levelled girls. But still, it's better than nothing and my co-ts love the repeating and group chanting. I considered putting them in teams to do it but I haven't tried it yet. I do always get one student to read the whole thing back to me on the final slide of the dialogue as well - sometimes you even get the quiet students putting their hands up.

I also find the partner speaking part, they will happily do nothing unless the scripts are quite entertaining. I get them to go through all 3 in their partners, then get them to repeat after me through all 3 - that's when my 'acting' skills come alive.
