Here is my lesson for Grade 3 - Lesson 2 - Part 1

It focuses on the speaking section about introducing friends.

There is a short 'guess who?' section at the end. You will have to change the final slide as it is about me, unless you wanna really confuse your students

Enjoy

Hey everyone

My girlfriend and I make videos to replace the animations in the listening section of the Jihaksa textbook. We have videos for Grade 1, 2 and 3 which follow nearly the exact same script, but with a slightly more interesting twist. We started doing them for Grade 2 last year and they were a great hit at our schools. The whole intention behind making it was to get the kids interested in the lesson and away from the boring text book material.

Feel free to use the videos in your class if you think they would be suitable. Some of the videos aren't great (sound quality can be difficult if we film outside), but we are trying to improve each week.

We use them with a gap fill worksheet where the students must listen and complete the conversation as they watch it. They Ss then have the script, so we have them practice it with a partner.

You can see our Youtube channel here with all the videos we have made so far: http://www.youtube.com/riverviewnz
New videos are generally posted on Mondays. Apologies for the terrible acting!

Grade 1 : Lesson 2 Part A

The lesson I'm teaching this week doesn't follow the textbook at all, but will post it here anyway. I'm doing a lesson on talking about words (meaning, spelling, pronunciation) so that kids can ask me these questions in English in the future. It's based on the lesson at Boggles World ESL (http://bogglesworldesl.com/askingforhelp_roleplay.htm) but I've simplified it a bit.

The crossword activity at the end is a little tricky to explain, but the kids can do it once they've grasped what they need to do. Me and my co-teacher demonstrated a few times (and she also explained briefly in Korean) as it's easy to lose the kids at this point.

You'll need the Ad Lib font from http://www.fonts2u.com/adlib.font to view the PPT properly. The Korean font is called 휴먼모음T - I'm not sure if it's standard or not, so you might need to format the files a bit if you've not got it.

EDIT: I ended up changing the PPT slightly to make the crossword activity a bit easier to understand, so am uploading the new version.

Hey everyone

I used your videos a couple of times last year and they went down quite well - thanks for putting in the effort to make the textbook a little less arduous to get through  ;)

Cool thanks for that - great to hear!
We're really trying to make them a lot better this year, having to focus on making our Kiwi accents understandable and slowing down our speech is the trickiest things to do! Have bought a semi decent camera so the video quality should be a bit nicer too :)

@Alikaz - I also used a couple of your videos last semester and they were a refreshing change, so thank you!

Here is grade 3 - chapter 2 (listening). This year for gr 3 I have to do the textbook worksheets + CD... so this ppt provides the fill-in-the-blank answers to the listening section. After that, I have an 'introduce a celebrity' game, where groups are given a celebrity profile and introduce them to the class without saying their name ("i'd like to introduce someone to you"), providing only some information. They must use full sentences, with every group member helping. The other groups then try to guess, and the group that does gets the point.  Some of these celebrities may be too easy but you can change them if you want. I provide stamps to the group with the most points.. you can also do more than one round. If I have any time at the end (unlikely), I'm doing a 'superspeed 100' contest I found on here.. which I have also attached.
A man lost his left arm and leg in an accident. He's all right now...

Here is my Grade 1 - Lesson 2 - Part 2

I wont be teaching it till next week.

It focuses on the 2nd part of the speaking section and there is the pororo game that someone else added, but I have changed some of the questions so they are related more to my students.

Enjoy^^

Here is my lesson for Grade 2 - Lesson 2 - Part 2

It has some slides from lesson 2 - part 1 as I didn't have time to complete them.
I think i was being a little ambitious trying to fit too much into one lesson.
It basically goes through the 'what are you good at' speaking section part. then there is a bingo game at the end.
I wont be teaching till next week so could well change and tweak things in it.
Feel free to use and change at your own discretion.

Have a great week.

Oh, my Grade 3 - Lesson 2 - Part 2 will be ready tomorrow, so will post it then^^

Grade 1 - Chapter 2 (speaking). I tried to cover both aspects of the speaking section. Powerpoint attached as .ppt and .pptx, along with a worksheet.

Grade 2 - chapter 2. I used some of slides others have posted but changed a few things. Added a worksheet which has a few exercises to complete as well as a talking battleship game (different than the one that was already posted... I think).
